100,000-Strong for Polar Bears

Polar Bear Cubs (NORBERT ROSING/National Geographic Stock) The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the most important onshore denning habitat for polar America’s vanishing bears. Yet, year after year, Big Oil and their allies in Congress push to industrialize this special place.

Right now, Defenders of Wildlife and our allies are engaged in an all-out effort to secure wilderness protections for the sensitive coastal plain of the Refuge -- and we need your voice to save this special place and the polar bears that make their home there.

Please take action today and urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to strengthen protections for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

In Defense of the Vulnerable

Bald Eagle (Pam Mullins)Nearly 40 years ago, the federal government made a bold commitment to our nation's most vulnerable wildlife: to preserve all endangered species for future generations.

Defenders President Jamie Clark makes the case that keeping this commitment isn't a luxury to be tossed aside -- even in stark economic times and tightening federal budgets.

Read Jamie's post on the value of protecting a lizard, a fly or any other wildlife in danger of extinction.
